DING DONG

You guys, guess who I won't miss. Go on, guess.

Give up? I'll tell you.

THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS

SCHMUUUUUUUUUUUCK

I will not miss him at all, because he is terrible!

In case you were wondering what that choir of angels was doing singing outside your windows today, the Rangers traded Mr. Softie the Backstabber, Erik Christensen, to the Minnesota Wild, along with a conditional 7th-rounder in the 2013 draft, for a 24-year-old I know nothing about named Casey Wellman. I have no idea what the condition of the conditional pick is.

Why would the Wild do this? Because all they gave up is one prospect (Wellman is being assigned immediately to Connecticut), one they probably didn't care much about, and they got back some crappy pick and a shot at doing something with Christensen. From the "who doesn't like free stuff?" department, this seems like a good call for them. On our end, it mostly just relieves fans of the fear that Christensen might actually get recalled for any reason. And now that Avery is well and truly buried in the AHL, Torts has no more use for Mr. Softie, whose only real job was to be the guy Torts made up nice things about as an excuse to not bring back Avery.

Between this trade and the news that Eminger's been cleared to return to the lineup (and, of course, Boston's 3-0 loss to the 'Canes last night, about which my only regret is that Thomas wasn't in net), today is a good day to be a Ranger fan.
