So, not a vote of confidence, otherwise you might as well just let Avery play, but since he's at best a healthy scratch anyway, no big loss in having him sit. I didn't see the game, but if reports are true and that *is* what Torts was thinking, Christensen at least didn't change anyone's mind.

On a sidenote, I always think of it like that, and feel a little guilty about it. I'm certainly not against having a much-improved Erik Christensen on the team, but as I'm convinced (possibly unfairly, but such are fan opinions) that I've seen his true colors already and that a great camp would have faded quickly come the regular season, I'm in my mind basically rooting against the guy. With my team's best interest in mind, I'm all but hoping a member of said team doesn't play well. That shit makes me feel weird.

It also doesn't help that it's him or Avery, running his mouth to the media about Sean's hit still pisses me off.Chrisnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7495246464792621074.post-34252519468054024012011-10-03T12:54:03.560-04:002011-10-03T12:54:03.560-04:00Agreed - I think it's ultimately Zucc's sp...Agreed - I think it's ultimately Zucc's spot to lose, and we have to hope that if he comes back to the US flat, Torts doesn't hesitate to bring Avery in.

Meanwhile, it turns out Avery was scratched again today. Do we think that's good news or bad news?atarnowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17337827687691534982noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7495246464792621074.post-71336975382230021372011-10-03T11:30:06.983-04:002011-10-03T11:30:06.983-04:00This has annoyed me as well, but I've tried no...This has annoyed me as well, but I've tried not to let myself get too worked up about it. Everyone knows the advantages of the big ice, including Torts and the coaches and the players themselves, so they'll make their evaluations with that in mind. It's harder to do, and it hurts us, but at least our first couple of games on regulation ice will be against other teams who've been playing over there with similar disadvantages. Also, to be fair to the kid, Mats was looking pretty good before they went over, too.

All in all, I agree with your summation - as long as Christensen gets the cut and Avery is forward #13, I'm good (yes, Erik recently scored a nice goal, but he's always had a nice wrist shot, that's not the problem with him). If Mats keeps playing like he has been, I'm happy to have him on the team (still >50% on extra credit shots!), and if he doesn't, Avery's there.Chrisnoreply@blogger.com
